I heard a saying today that had me thinking.
You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.
Each time you create a goal you are re-reading your last chapter and looking for its flaws, but at what point does that become a hinderance in moving forward. We must re-read to see what we want different, but when all we are looking at is what we have not achieved we can't move forward. If we are constantly re-reading the past how can we possibly be happy with the new chapter.
Moving forward in life requires a look behind but we must be more focused on what is in front of us and writing the new chapter. God teaches us to look forward. Throughout the Bible we read of events where God tells his followers to not fear the storms but look to Him and the glory that will come after the storm. We often look at our circumstances as storms, a job we don't like, unhappy with our weight, or struggle financially. God tells us to place our burdens on him, but how often do we do that. We may say a quick prayer and then still continue to stress over the issue. To move forward we must trust that God has his best for us in all matters of our lives, we just have to follow the instructions.
Easy right? No, not always, this is where faith matters most. You have to see that goal or changes as though it has already happened while you are going through that storm. This is the most important aspect of having faith. If you are moving toward something you know God has for you then it is already so, so why stress? Stress separates us from the peace and joy that God has for us. It will get in between you and the happiness God has for you. These times are when we are suppose to have the most faith in God, but we often have the least. Changing the mindset allows us to keep strong and reap the joy that comes in the morning.
